The children have to direct the Bee-Bot from one end of the course to the other using a set of directions. Therefore, I was unaware of the massive variety of online resources and computer software that was available. There are many programs and software which helps children with word recognition and teaches them how to form letters. Literacy development involves encouraging the children to link sounds and letters and to begin to read and write. The children will be able to transfer their skills between the turtles they use in the classroom and the Bee-Bots they are able to use on the computer. For young children, many of the activities and work completed on a computer will be done in pairs, encouraging both cooperation and team work. This area comprises of enabling the children to explore and play with a variety of media and materials.

Due to the lack of experience, I would have been very nervous about teaching computing to young children. This area comprises of enabling the children to explore and play with a variety of media and materials. Turhle and other Early Years settings have to follow a framework which enables young children to learn through a range of activities.
I think this piece of software has a place in Key Stage One classroom because it is a fantastic way of moving children on from the floor robots to using a simple form of computing programming.
However, I also believe there should be a mixture of the children using mathematical programs on the computer and practical activities.

I believe that Bee-Bots play a big part in introducing young children to the ideas behind computer programming.
